Scoop! The glory days of the regional press are celebrated in a new book

May 4, 2017 Blog

A WONDERFUL day at a reunion of old colleagues from the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo, where I started my career in journalism back in 1971 before I went on to The Times in London and spent many ensuing years in the national press.  More than sixty people came along from the 1960s to 1990s. It also launched a new book of newspaper tales from those years to which we all contributed and helped finance. It gives a wonderful snapshot of the regional press in that era, funny, dramatic and very revealing and titled Posts and Echoes. A happy occasion made poignant by the fact that the Daily Post has since closed, but thankfully the glory days of the Liverpool Echo live on and it remains one of the best-selling regional titles in the land
