Will Covid-19 shunt HS2 into a siding?

Travelling along London’s Hampstead Road towards Euston today and looking at the devastation brought about by the demolition of surrounding buildings for HS2 prompts once again the thought: Will it ever be needed? Coronavirus has changed the way we all work and by the time the line opens, with perhaps £100bn spent, we may be looking at a vast white elephant. Trains are currently running at 15 per cent capacity because of social distancing and reduced demand. Will we ever need another high speed line when we are used to Zooming along in quite a different fashion?
